PROLOGUE
Dhruv extended his hand as if he was asking Tanisha for a dance, but in reality, he dared her to degrade him further. Though she held an icy front, Tanisha knew she couldn’t deny him a waltz with her because her heart won’t have it any other way. She slipped her dainty palms into his broad, warm hands, and he quickly wrapped his fingers over them, tightening his hold. His firm hold conveyed his silent declaration of never letting her go. He placed her other arm over his velvet-clad shoulder. They started swaying in response to the music playing in the background.
“That was a smart move, sweetheart. It was an honour to be at the receiving end of the shrewd and practical Tanisha Raichand.”
His sardonic voice sent chills down her spine as they twirled to the music.
“Take the cue, Dhruv. Don’t let me hurt you further,” she muttered, her contrite gaze sweeping across his stubbled face.
“No, I’d like to see how far you would go,” he drew her waist closer, reminding her how well they fit against one another like puzzle pieces.
“You will learn to live without me, Dhruv,” She mumbled and whirled around on her heels, clutching his finger as he deftly twisted her around.
Her deep voice always reminded him of dark chocolate, his favourite delicacy.
“I’ll make sure that never happens.”
She felt chills all over her body as his nose stroked her neck, taking in her scent.
“You have a great life ahead, Dhruv…..don’t destroy it, for me,” she implored, cocooned in his arms.
“That great life would be meaningless without you beside me,” he yanked her to his chest. They both felt the now familiar strong zap of electricity at the contact.
“I cannot give you a normal life,” Tanisha argued vehemently refusing to acknowledge the desire game he sketched around her.
“Not working, Isha. I’m not having this excuse,” he shot back, dipping her in his arms.
“What should I do for you to realize that you and I have disaster written all over us,” she growled.
Dhruv spun Tanisha in his arms, and her back rested on his chest. He bent to her ears and whispered.
“Be my life partner, and see me prove you wrong, Ice.”
Her pulse escalated hearing his given endearment once again. Those who witnessed the explosive chemistry between them remained unsure how to react after he left her arms. Slowly turning towards him, her eyes met his caramel-coloured, unyielding eyes.
“Pull any stunt you want, Ice, but I’m not going anywhere. You and I, are meant to be together.”
His confident repartee was loud enough for the gathering. There was a promise in his gaze, and Tanisha felt her heart clench.
